A ‘crash test’ video shared by Tesla’s Twitter account has left netizens amused as the clip shows the electric pickup stopping short of the obstruction
A day after we reported Tesla CEO Elon Musk Tweeting about production lines of the Cybertruck being ready, something rather amusing has cropped up on the cyber world. In the run-up to the launch, the Austin, Texas-based carmaker has been releasing new content on the vehicle. In a recent development, it has released another video of the much-awaited full-electric pickup truck.

Last Saturday, Tesla shared a short video of a crash test of the Cybertruck on its Twitter account. The clip displays the pickup driving past an excited audience looking at the vehicle from behind windows. Next, the electric truck stops short of crashing into the obstruction. So, basically, the vehicle doesn’t undergo any crash in what was supposed to be a crash test In the first place. This pretty much left Twitterati as amused as us. Not the ones to spare any hilarity, Twitter users were quick to pour in their comments on the video. One of them took a dig at the considerable delays in the launch of the vehicle and said, “Just like the truck! It never arrives.” Notably, the Cybertruck was first announced in November 2019 and has faced several delays in its commercial launch. Another user commented, “I feel bad for the walls that crash into this bulletproof beast.” This was about Elon Musk’s claim that the upcoming pickup is bulletproof. That said, several sources have reported that it’s not the truck’s body but only the windows that are bulletproof.
Later, an influencer with Twitter handle $ICannot_Enough shared another video clip of the crash test and wrote: “That’s all the footage that survived the collision.” Responding to this, a Twitter user wrote: “That’s a pretty cool new view of Cybertruck.” Musk has called the Cybertruck ‘epic’, and Tesla fans worldwide feel introducing the electric pickup would be an ‘iPhone moment.’ Tesla hopes the Cybertruck will help the carmaker beat the sales slump and perhaps reach a November 2021 high.

Elon Musk has already revealed that the first production phase will commence this Summer, but full-fledged manufacturing will start only in 2024. Wall Street forecasts 92,000 deliveries next year, but the actual number could reach up to 200,000 units. Recently, Tesla Inc announced it had missed the sales target for the first quarter of CY2023. This is a bit of a surprise since the carmaker has rolled out multiple price cuts to escape the slowdown’s clutches. As per Refinity, the carmaker delivered 422,875 units, falling short of the 430,008 units projected earlier. It will be interesting to see if the Cybertruck would help the carmaker revive its sales fortunes.
