Tesla Model S Plaid is one of the fastest cars ever tested and has even outperformed the costlier Porsche Taycan Turbo S
The Tesla Model S Plaid is unarguably among the quickest cars on the face of the Earth. Thanks to a tri-motor setup belting out a whopping 1020 hp-1050 lb-ft, this electric car can outrun pretty much everything this side of the utterly bonkers Rimac Nevera. Recently, a Plaid driver decided to test the top-speed of his EV on a German Autobahn.

Tesla Model S Plaid capable of 0-100 km/h in 1.9 Seconds
Over the years, all that instant torque of all EVs has resulted into some ridiculous 0-60 mph times. The almost gut-wrenching acceleration of the high-end electric cars has impressed many but the Tesla Model S Plaid is still a notch above most others. If the Texas-based carmaker is to be believed, the tri-motor setup of the Plaid helps the EV dismiss the 60 mph mark from a standstill in the blink of an eye (read: mere 1.9 seconds). But that’s still not the quickest an EV can get but let’s not forget the approx. 4800 pound weight of this future-proof machine. The quarter mile is dismissed in a not-so-insane 9.2 seconds at 155 mph.
What all these acceleration times don’t reveal is the almost brutal way in which the Tesla Model S Plaid gains speed. The in gear acceleration, for instance, is equally scintillating. The rapid gain of momentum starts tapering off a bit only after 140 mph. That said, we are hard pressed to think of any other vehicle that can reach that mark from, say, 60 mph, in mere seconds. The top speed is electronically limited at 166 mph but Tesla has said that the car can hit 200 mph, albeit, with special hardware components.

Hits 267 kmph on autobahn
The video we have got here shows the driver making repeated attempts to hit V-Max on a German Autobahn. After a couple of unsuccessful attempts, he does manage to just about hit 267 kmph (165.906 mph) for a brief moment. Finally, in the last attempt, with the traffic clearing up, he successfully pilots the Tesla Model S Plaid to its top speed and drives it flat out for a relatively longer time.
