In this latest truck pull competition, there are worthy rivals including the Tesla Cybertruck, Rivian R1T, Ford F-150 Lightning and the Ford F-350. The aim is to analyse the tractive power of each of these. Moreover, the team didn’t just want to test the capabilities of EVs but also compare them with what the industry standard is with internal combustion engine vehicles. That is why they also have the Ford F-350 diesel pickup truck. Let us take a look at the details of this unique competition.

Tesla Cybertruck, Rivian R1T, Ford EVs in Truck Pull Race
This video comes from Tesla on YouTube. The pickup trucks find themselves in a raw environment. They will be pulling a self-propelled sled. It pulls itself backwards and has a weight of about 35,000 lbs. As the box on it moves forward, it increases the weight and prevents the towing vehicle from moving. The test is to see which pickup truck will be able to pull it the farthest. Firstly, the Ford F-150 Lightning has a go. It has a towing capacity of 8,500 lbs. It is able to drag the sled for 207 ft.

Then comes the Rivian R1T with a significantly higher towing capacity of 11,000 lbs. In its most powerful configuration, the electric truck is able to drag the sled for an impressive 257 ft. In order to compare the EVs with the industry standards using a diesel pickup truck, the job appears in front of the Ford F-350. It has a towing capacity of a whopping 21,900 lbs. It is able to carry on the sled upto a distance of 263 ft. Finally, the Tesla Cybertruck is up next with a towing capacity of just 11,000 lbs. Interestingly, it pulls the sled the farthest at 318 ft.

Author’s Note
It is just fascinating and impressive to witness the result of this tough challenge. This showcases that the maximum towing capacity alone is not of much significance if the vehicle is not able to put all the power down to tow an object. Just to keep the contest fair, the team is using all of these vehicles in their stock configurations including the tyres. Hence, this is proof of how well the engineers have calibrated the Cybertruck. Also, the inherent weight of the vehicle is beneficial to create momentum in this race. However, the Cybertruck weighs the least among its rivals. Still, it is able to perform the best. That is a testament to the prowess of this unique EV.
