The Tesla Cybertruck is here and it performs a drag race with the Rivian R1T and Hummer EV. Unveiled nearly four years ago in 2019, the release of the futuristic electric truck from the world’s largest EV manufacturer encountered several delays. The pandemic and the ensuing semiconductor chip shortage were contributing factors, but internal readiness issues were also significant. However, that is now history. Customers have already received initial deliveries, personally handed over by Elon Musk at the launch event. Now, let’s take a look at the details of this drag race.

Tesla Cybertruck – Drag Race with Rivian R1T and Hummer EV

This latest video comes from Hagerty on YouTube. In the first part of the video, the host is on the drag strip. For the first round, he brings the Rivian R1T. On the mark, both drivers press the accelerator pedals hard. However, the Cybertruck takes the lead from the start and continues it until the end of the drag strip. Note that the Cybertruck was on mud-terrain tyres while the R1T was on performance highway tyres. It was able to do the quarter mile in 11 secs at 119 mph (191 km/h), while the R1T did it in 11.7 secs at 110 mph (177 km/h).

For the next round, the team brings the 1,000-hp Hummer EV to pose a tougher challenge to the Cybertruck. They commence the second round with great intensity and excitement. However, from the very beginning, the Cybertruck kept accelerating ahead without any break in the performance. The Hummer EV completed the drag race in 11.9 secs at 106 mph (170 km/h). The unequivocal winner was the Cybertruck and the race was not even close. It is just fascinating to witness how the Cybertruck is destroying some of the most powerful EVs on the planet.

The Tesla Cybertruck is offered in three variants – Cyberbeast, AWD, and RWD. The power outputs for the first two are 845 hp and 600 hp, derived from triple- and dual-electric motor setups, respectively. The range spans from 250 mi (402 km) to 440 mi (708 km). It’s worth noting that the single-motor RWD version will be released in 2025. The towing capacity for the initial two variants is a respectable 11,000 lbs (4,990 kg). The starting prices are $99,990, $79,990, and $60,990, respectively.
