Tesla’s CEO, Elon Musk, recently hinted at the development of a high-performance variant of the upcoming all-electric Cybertruck. In a comment posted on X, Musk expressed that he had the chance to experience what he referred to as “the performance Cybertruck.” He suggested that this version of Tesla Cybertruck would offer a significant improvement in performance compared to the standard model, stating, “I just drove the performance Cybertruck today and it kicks ass next-level.”

Elon Musk Tests Tesla Cybertruck Performance?
Elon Musk’s intriguing comment about the Tesla Cybertruck was made in response to a post by Tesla Owners Silicon Valley discussing the potential of a Tesla Model 3 Plaid variant. While Musk denied the likelihood of such a Model 3 version, he did drop a hint about the “Performance” iteration of the Cybertruck, indirectly confirming its existence.
This revelation raises questions about whether Musk’s recent test of “the performance Cybertruck” was somehow linked to the recent acceleration tests conducted at the Tesla Factory’s test track in Fremont, California. It’s plausible that both the development team and Musk himself were evaluating the first prototype during the past few days. Tesla’s objectives for the performance version of the Cybertruck have piqued interest regarding their intentions to match or even surpass the acceleration capabilities of the top-tier GMC Hummer EV Pickup.

Tesla’s Cybertruck Lineup
Tesla just might introduce a range of standard Cybertruck models with varying battery capacities, ranges, and performance. This way, the carmaker will cater to diverse customer preferences. While exact specifications and pricing details are unknown, Tesla’s website hints at several impressive figures. These include a towing capacity of 14,000 pounds. In comparison, the Ford F-150 Lightning offers 10,000 pounds towing capacity. Meanwhile, the Rivian R1T’s towing capacity is 11,000 pounds. The Cybertruck will even have a payload capacity of up to 3,500 pounds. Other highlights include a potential 500-mile range, and lightning-fast acceleration! Expect 0 to 60 mph sprint to take no more than 2.9 seconds.
The eagerly anticipated Tesla Cybertruck is slated to commence production later this year in Texas. That said, the initial rollout will be quite limited. Mass production on a larger scale is more likely to become feasible sometime in 2024.
